A late goal from Cape Braden was enough for the Chargers to force an overtime game at Amalia Arena on Saturday night, but the Avalanche won in six rounds of shootout, giving Tampa Bay their third consecutive home defeat.

Halfway through this period, Avalanche Captain Gabriel Landeskog's first rebound fell behind the Bolts. Andrei Vasilevskiy blocked Nathan MacKinnon's first shot, but Landeskog blocked the rebound at the near post and gave the away team the lead. The zero split marks the fifth consecutive game that the Bolt team failed to light up the season in the opening 20 minutes.

Tampa Bay rebounded at 6 minutes and 34 seconds of the second quarter and equalized the score because of a greasy goal by Matthew Joseph in front. Anthony Cirelli failed to shoot from the top of the left circle and Joseph backhanded the loose puck over Darcy Kuemper in his hand as it ejected a Colorado defender in front of the net.

The game was tied for just over five minutes before Mikko Rantanen used a solo timer to get Colorado's goal back.

Tampa Bay got the answer again, with Steven Stammkos’s fourth goal of the season, equalizing 2-2 early in the third quarter. After Kuemper slid out to the right to save and reject Ryan McDonagh, Bolts tracked the puck and Ondrej Palat found Stamkos opened wide in front of the net and scored the goal.

Colorado led the third single-goal lead by five seconds in the middle of the third quarter. A sloppy sequence saw Vasilevskiy hit with a trip phone while Bolts was trying to chase the puck, and MacKinnon tied the score 3-2 after the opening faceoff.

However, thanks to a 6-on-5 goal from Cape Braden, the Chargers will manage to rebound and save at least one point. Vasilievsky got an extra offensive on the bench, Bolt passed the ball to Point, and Porter went to the top of the open space and fired a shot through Kumpel. A lot of traffic blocked his view.

After a pointless overtime, the two teams drew 1-1 in three rounds of penalty shootouts. Steven Stamkos scored a goal at the beginning of the 4th round, but Landeskog scored as he tried to expand the offense.

The game was finally decided in the 6th round, when Kuemper made a save against Cirelli and Cale Makar won the game.

The next step for Bolts is back-to-back roads between Buffalo and Pittsburgh, and the game will start at the KeyBank Center on Monday.
